How to connect two PC's using the Windows Direct Cable Connection Wizard.
Note that both PC's must use the same type of port. i.e. Parallel to Parallel or Serial to Serial.
Connect the cable and Install the Host PC first.
First make sure that you have installed the Direct Cable Connection Software on both PC's.
You can do this by checking your start menu as follows :
If not present, then it needs to be installed as follows :
You should enable file sharing of at least one directory on the Host PC, and the workgroup names of both should be identical. For details on how to check or change these see Changing Workgroups or Sharing Files. If the Direct Cable Connection is found then run the program to make your connection as follows :
The Host PC will display a message saying Waiting for a guest computer to connect..."
If all goes well the Client PC will log on to the Host with a name and password and if it successfully connects. You can open the shared folders by clicking the button which appears below the close button.
